HALLOWIN – Official Rules

1. Sponsor

Bird Bam HalloWIN (“Promotion”) is sponsored by Bird Bam Mahjong Club, located in the Encino Town Center, 17200 Ventura Blvd, Ste 115, Encino, CA 91316 (“Sponsor”).

2. Promotion Period

The Promotion runs from Thursday, October 1, 2026 through Thursday, October 29, 2026 (the “Promotion Period”). All tracking entries must be logged and verified during this period to count toward leaderboard standings.

3. Eligibility

• Open to individuals 18+ who are legal U.S. residents, excluding employees/household members of the Sponsor.
• Void where prohibited. Participation constitutes acceptance of official rules and finality of Sponsor decisions.

4. PlaybyPoint Registration

• All entrants must have or create a free Bird Bam Mahjong Club account in PlaybyPoint, using this link: https://birdbammahjongclub.playbypoint.com/users/sign_up
• The name and contact information associated with score logs must exactly match the participant’s PlaybyPoint profile to avoid disqualification.

5. Participation & Score Tracking

• In-Club Play Entry: Participants earn one (1) base tile pull for attending an officially scheduled American Mahjong Open Play session, and one (1) additional bonus tile pull for every verified "Mahjong" win scored during that same session.
• The Pull Protocol: At checkout, players execute all of their accumulated pulls from the Hallowin Tile Bag. The bag is populated with a standard 152-tile American Mahjong set plus 16 custom Halloween bonus tiles, totaling 168 tiles. Following a player’s turn, all drawn tiles are returned to the bag to maintain baseline mathematical odds for the next participant.
• Leaderboard Tile Values: Point tallies are calculated based on the following specific values:

• Bird Bam (1-Bam): +25 Points
• Red Dragon: +20 Points
• Green Dragon: +15 Points
• Flowers: +10 Points
• Numbered Suit Tiles (Dots, Bams 2–9, Craks): Face Value (1–9 Points)
• White Dragon (Soap): 0 Points
• Winds (E, S, W, N): MINUS 5 Points (-5)
• Jokers: 0 Points + Draw two (2) extra bonus tiles immediately. Bonus pulls accumulate if subsequent Jokers are pulled.

• Instant-Win Tiles: If a participant draws a custom-marked Halloween tile, they instantly win the corresponding prize on the spot (and retain all leaderboard points from their standard tiles):

• Ghost Tile (4 in bag): One (1) Free Open Play Pass
• Pumpkin Tile (4 in bag): One (1) $10 Shop Gift Certificate
• Bat Tile (8 in bag): One (1) Free Snack Bar Treat

• Table Speed & Rotation Disclaimer: By participating, players explicitly acknowledge and agree that natural variations in table speeds, slow play by tablemates, individual player rotations, and short-handed tables are an inherent part of open play. These factors may naturally result in some players completing more rounds or games than others during a session. The Sponsor will not adjust scores, compensate, or alter leaderboard standings due to table pacing, seat rotations, or tile-pull luck.
• Exclusions: Special events, private events, and fundraisers are excluded from the Promotion. The Promotion is only played at regularly scheduled American Mahjong Open Play sessions.

6. Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE)

• No Purchase Necessary: To enter the Promotion without paying a table fee or playing a physical session, handprint your full name, phone number, mailing address, email address, and the phrase "October 2026 Contest Entry" on a 3"x5" card.
• Mailing Instructions: Mail the card in a separate envelope to the Sponsor’s address listed in Section 1. To preserve the principle of Equal Dignity, each entry must be sent in a separate envelope postmarked on a different calendar day.
• Limits and Cutoffs: Mail-in entries are capped at a maximum of one (1) entry per person per day, up to a hard maximum of twenty-six (26) total entries per person for the entire Promotion Period (matching the total number of physical Open Play sessions scheduled in October).
• AMOE Credit: Each valid, verified mail-in entry received will be credited with a flat-rate baseline of six (6) points (the mathematical average of the tile bag) added to the participant's PlaybyPoint leaderboard profile. Mail-in entries are not eligible for instant-win tile prizes. All mail-in entries must be postmarked by October 29, 2026, and received by November 1, 2026, to count toward the final leaderboard.

7. Leaderboard Conditions

• Only complete, clear, and staff-verified score totals logged on the day of play (or processed via valid AMOE) will be credited.
• Standing leaderboards will be updated within 24 hours of each session and displayed in-club.
• Any participant found cheating, tampering with score sheets, or engaging in collusion/disruptive behavior will be disqualified at the Sponsor's sole discretion.

8. Prizes
