OPEN PLAY ROTATION POLICY

At Bird Bam Mahjong Club we want everyone to have fun and be included! While we do our best to fill each table with 4 players, sometimes we have 1-3 extra players. By following this simple rotation system, everyone will get plenty of mahjong time:

SEATING

Players are seated at tables of 4 in order of arrival and may begin playing right away.

3 EXTRA PLAYERS

These players will be seated and begin playing a three-player game. Players can decide whether or not to play NMJL three-player rules or a “Ghost”/”Bob”/”Sally” game. Written explanations of these versions are available at the front desk. If the group would like to play 4-player games, we will rotate in East from the first 4-player table to finish their game. And that table will become a 3-player table. And so on.

1-2 EXTRA PLAYERS

These players will be next-in-line, based on order of arrival. When the first 4-player game ends, East rotates out and the longest-waiting player joins that table.​ East then joins the back of the queue to be rotated into another game. This process repeats as each table completes its next game, East rotates out, and the next waiting player joins. Though not guaranteed, and subject to availability, club staff may sit in to help form a 3-player game.
