You’ll learn the fundamentals of American Mahjong and finish the class with practice games to put what you learned into action. Each student receives their own copy of Bird Bam Mahjong Club’s Quick Guide and Mahjong Glossary to keep.

This class is for players who understand the card, the suits, and how the game flows, and want to play with expert guidance.

Each session starts with a 30-minute review, followed by guided play. Your instructor will walk you through the Charleston, help you choose a hand, and guide your keep-or-discard decisions in real time.

Find it hard to decide what to do when the hand you’ve been working on starts to feel like a dead end? This clinic will help you learn when and how to pivot to a new hand or category.

Through multiple rounds of mahjong, you’ll get expert guidance on when to keep working on a hand and when it’s time for a new strategy. You’ll learn all the best pivot options for the tiles on your rack.

Want to play even when you don’t have a full table? This clinic teaches you how to enjoy American Mahjong with 3 players, 2 players, or even solo. You’ll learn the rules and flow for each variation so you always have a way to play.

Through guided rounds, you’ll practice each format at the table and see how the strategy shifts when there are fewer players. You’ll leave confident in how to set up, score, and adapt your game—no matter how many people you have.
